Cattle Point is a small park situated in Victoria. As the name suggests, it was originally used to unload cattle bound for Uplands farm. It doesn’t see many barges any more, but the park now boasts two boat launches with ample parking for boat trailers. It makes a great point of departure from which to access the Discovery Islands or other areas around the southern tip of Vancouver Island.
Because of its accessibility and its panoramic view, Cattle point makes an excellent vantage point at both sunrise and sunset. Visitors will be treated to a particularly spectacular view at the former when the rising sun illuminates Mt. Baker.
Many shorebirds and marine mammals make their homes in the park, including seals and river otters. Observers can usually spot a romp (a group) of otters feeding at dusk.
There is also a trail leading to the adjacent Willows Beach.
